Members of the White Pond Advisory Committee are asking the town to step up mitigation of cyanobacteria at the swimming spot instead of spending money on beach improvements.
White Pond’s beach has been closed to swimmers for most of the summer, as harmful bacteria is causing blooms of toxic algae that can make people and animals sick. Now residents and members of the WPAC are asking the town to implement regular water quality testing and stricter guidelines for pond visitors.
